The Start of the Grand Cross consists of an eight point star with a golden finish featuring the 1939 Iron Cross in the center. Prototypes of this badge were produced by the Munich jewelers Rath, but none were ever awarded. The only example of this badge was found by the US Army at the end of WWII and it is currently displayed at West Point. This is a superb reproduction featuring multi-piece construction and great detail.
