The Tank Destruction Badge was introduced on March 9, 1942 for the single handed destruction of a tank. It was awarded to soldiers who as a single combatant destroyed an enemy tank or armored vehicle using only close combat weapons. For every tank they destroyed soldiers would receive one of these special badges.
